Our Club-Class evenings in December and January went very well yet again and a good time was enjoyed by all that came along. We were really pleased with the pieces that everyone produced and they should all feel extremely proud of themselves - you can see some beautiful examples on the right
The overall response has been fantastic and we are now taking bookings for the next class on Wednesday 3rd March so why not secure a place by popping into the shop or giving us a call if you fancy a try. It's the perfect way to unwind and have some time to yourself doing something fun
Just to remind you, Jars Of Clay has got together with a well-known local artist called Joanna Roberts to help us run a set of evening sessions for the grown-ups who would like to learn new techniques and some of the secrets to better painting
We don't want to call this a class, that sounds far too formal - and it is anything but! However we certainly hope that it will evolve into a club of sorts, where we can all relax and enjoy a couple of hours with like-minded people who want to combine a social evening with a chance to enjoy painting ceramics and maybe learn a thing or two at the same time
The Club-Class evenings are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 7pm until 9pm, although we are having to arrange some extra days due to the keen interest. The sessions are limited to a maximum of 16 people in order to allow sufficient room for painting and to ensure that you are able to get plenty of Joanna's attention
Each evening begins with Joanna giving some tips and demonstrating a few techniques. She is then available for the rest of the time to chat, answer any questions, and generally help you to obtain the best results possible. Carla is on hand to assist and advise as well
The cost of a session is £20. This includes an item from a range of very decent-sized ceramics that we have chosen especially, a sample tile to practice your techniques on, paint, glazing and firing and of course the tuition from Joanna
Our usual range of refreshments and cakes are available to buy throughout each evening (you may already be aware that we are now serving Paddy & Scott's 'seriously good' coffee)
If you think that this sounds exciting and would like to book a place, then please pop into the shop. We will take a £5 deposit for each place booked. If you can't come in, just give us a call and you can post your deposit to us. You can book just one (or the whole 'course') which so far is scheduled to go through until December - but can be extended further if there is sufficient demand

With the success of our adult painting Club-Class, we have been holding a similar class for our 8 - 16 year old painting enthusiasts, also run by local artist Joanna Roberts, which is proving to be very popular and great fun! Having realised that there are slightly younger children who would enjoy this type of class, we have widened the age range to include 8 year olds and above, but please remember that this is a class aimed at more mature children who want to advance their painting skills
The sessions are held on the last Wednesday of each month (excluding December) from 5pm until 7pm, with the next class on Wednesday 31st March. There is a different ceramic item each session chosen especially for the class and the cost is £15 per person which includes the selected ceramic item, tuition, use of all the paints and the glazing and firing of the finished piece. All places must be booked in advance and secured by a non-refundable/transferable deposit of £5. Spaces are limited to ensure that each person receives enough attention during the class
We are also offering a special refreshment package at £2.50 for a slice of cake and a cold drink (orange/apple juice or can) which can be purchased on the day
If you think your teenager would find this enjoyable, why not book them a place today?

We have re-launched our weekend club for children as the Jars Of Clay Sunday Club. The club is for children aged 5 to 11 years and is held on alternate Sundays between 10.30am and 12.30pm, with our next session on Sunday 7th March. Parents are not required to stay ... just think, freedom! Two hours for yourself, safe in the knowledge that your child is happy and occupied
Previously we ran this as a craft club but we have found that the children attending all wanted to do ceramic painting as well as craft so this is what we are now offering. The class is run by local artist Joanna Roberts, with help from Carla, and each session will now involve every child painting a ceramic item with full instruction so that they learn the correct use of the paints and achieve the best they can. When they have finished their ceramic they then are offered another craft item to complete. We then all sit down to a light lunch (sandwiches, crisps, cake and a drink)
We want this to be a really fun and happy club where the children can make new friends and enjoy being creative
The cost of a session is £12 per child (10% discount for siblings). This covers everything that they use during the session along with their lunch. There are only 14 places available for each day in order to ensure that every child gets plenty of attention and help, so places must be booked in advance by leaving a £5 non-refundable deposit. Please note that this is not a 'drop in on the day' club
If you would like to reserve a place for your child, just pop into the shop and we will take your deposit and tell you all about it!

If you have any questions about either of the Club-Class evenings or the Sunday Club, please feel free to give Carla or Melanie a call on 01394 380123 or come into the café for a chat
We hope to see you soon!
